Vanderbilt University Class of 2020

Saint Louis, MO Native

Although my formal media education began in college, my passion for the matter has existed since my childhood. I first became inspired from seeing the beautiful stories of Disney films and the special effects of films like Jurassic Park. Early on, I wrote short screenplays and designed small sets using miscellaneous objects to be able to make films. Through digital media, it became obvious to me that the bounds of story-telling are limitless. During my time in undergrad, I majored in Communication Studies along with Cinema and Media Arts, and I minored in Spanish. Studying these topics introduced me to human-centered design to know how to produce meaningful work across multiple platforms with messages catered to a variety of people. Furthermore, film shoots have given me the skills to know how to put out casting calls, create call sheets, scout locations, in addition to directing, cinematography, sound design, and editing. With regards to software, I have experimented with multiple programs in the Adobe Suite including Premiere, Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, and XD. In addition, I incorporated my designs into Gamemaker Studio to construct games by coding in gml. From these experiences plus skills developed while being in the workforce, I now consider myself a Communications and Media Specialist.
